Hindu Doggie is an American Progressive Pop duo consisting of Tara Mackey (vocals, midi, shaker) and Josh James Gahris (vocals, guitar, bass, keys, production).
Mackey and Gahris first met in New York, where Tara was serving as band photographer and Josh was stepping in as bass player for an absente band member. Gahris is a native of Ohio and a graduate of The Conservatory of Arts and Sciences, and Tara is from New York and has studied psychology at Bennington College.
The duo's decision to roadtrip and move from New York to Los Angeles inspired the creation of Hindu Doggie: a collection of blues, musical theater, rock, folk, acoustic, and electronic sounds. Gahris's previous work as an audio engineer with The Deftones, as well as pop sensations like Justin Timberlake, has greatly influenced their sound. Mackey's work in musical theater, as well as her own personal journey, inspires the lyrics and vocal harmonies.
You can catch Josh's work as audio engineer at The Sound Factory in Hollywood, and Tara also acts and models for Otto Models.
They have played two shows at The House of Blues VooDoo Lounge and will be playing Exclusive Limited Engagements shows at The Foundation Room every Wednesday in July!
