“This whole genresbusiness is like the Berlin wall, and I’m there with a forklift and a wreckingball” Mat Zo, London, September 2011
At 22 years of age, Mat Zo is living the dream – part of a new breed ofprecocious, unrestricted DJ/producers that are making big noises without theone-dimensional genre blinkers of old. In the last 12 months alone, the London based producer hasseen his boundary-blurring productions like“Bipolar”, “Superman”, “Mozart” (with Arty) and “Frequency Flyer” dominate theBeatport charts. DJs as varied as the Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto and Above& Beyond hammer them at the biggest events on the planets, while Zo himselfspends his time zig-zagging across the planet – rocking the crowds at eventslike Electric Zoo in New York, Audiotistic in LA, Creamfields Australia andLondon’s SW4.
As anyone who follows his colourful twitter feedwill know, Zo is a ranter as well as a raver. Laid back but full of creativefire, he’s still the music obsessed joker that his mates have always known –but somehow seems like an elder statesman at the same time. As a prodigiousteenager, he took both the drum & bass (he records for Hospital as MRSA)and trance scenes by storm. Now armed with a discography of hits that would putsome of the longest standing producers to shame, he has gone on to remix popprincess Kylie and become a leading light in both the drum & bass andtrance scenes – occasionally topping the Beatport charts in both genres at thesame time.
With his French-house influenced remix of Above& Beyond’s “Thing Called Love” getting support from Gallic underground heroLifelike and “The Bipolar EP” finding its way into the sets of A-Trak, Afrojack,Porter Robinson, Steve Aoki and Roger Sanchez, Zo has proved his chameleon-likecapabilities to find fans in whatever sound he turns his hands too.
As he works busily behind the scenes on his debutartist album for Anjunabeats, Zo’s kaleidoscopic creativity is set to beunleashed in full force. With everything from French house to rock-riddled,funk-fuelled electro and hip-hop vibes already planned for the album, Zo’sgenre-wrecking visions are set to be realised in the most explosive mannerimaginable.
LA nativeborn and raised producer ETC!ETC! may have spent most of his studio life on theElectro House point, but his transition to Moombahton productions arewhat have been commanding the most attention from top-notch tastemakers aroundthe globe as oflate.
ETC!ETC! gravitates his aural attention onto anything that moves the room.First attracted to Electro house for the big bass and floor-shatteringfast-paced BPM, ETC!ETC! started to shift his focus to moombahton in early 2011and starting to make an impact in the scene almost immediately .
In just thepast 12 months he has been played almost on a weekly rotation on BBCRadio 1 by Kissy Sell out & DJ Kapyer ,and the following keepsGrowing.
With an eclectic mix of different audio flavors coming out of his arsenal it'sno wonder ETC!ETC! has garnered a diverse array ofhighly-prestigious support from EDM leaders Wolfgang Gartner, AC Slater,Congorock, 12th Planet x Skrillex, Mstrkrft , Dillon Francis, Diplo , BroSafari & many others.
With multiple forthcoming releases on Mad Decent, Teenage Riot Records ,PartyLike US, Rot10 Musik and T&A , 2012 will be a big year forETC!ETC!

For Los Angeles basslinetechnician BARE, aka Sean Rodela, 2010 will be fondly remembered as the yearhis twisted face melting sickness exploded into a worldwide epidemic. Takingthe dubstep scene by storm with his staggering studio output and electrifyinglive performances, there is no question BARE has clawed his way into the ranksof the bass music elite - and he's not going anywhere. If you don't know, timeto get to know...
The BARE sound is a product of deep roots in rock, west coast hip-hop (as partof the Vital Mindz collective) and aggressive drum 'n' bass (as past aliasReborn). These influences, combined with ultra crisp drum programming, slickmelodies and mind altering bass modulation, spawn face melting dubstep anthemsthat practically rewind themselves. "I'd have to say that the love ofmaking something from nothing inspires me to make music," BARE says."There is no better feeling than when you see people go insane tosomething you created from scratch!"'BARE's first release, theragga-influenced "Culture" on Terminal Dusk recordings last March, was charted by DJs worldwide via Chemical Records, and put BARE on the radaralongside other members of the already incendiary Los Angeles dub community. The secondrelease, the Groupie Love Life EP on Reid Speed's Play Me imprint, held downmultiple top 10 spots on Beatport's coveted download rankings for over a month, and showed the world the BARE sound was a force to be reckoned with. Soonafter, BARE was recruited by drum and bass legend Dieselboy as one of a selectfew artists torepresenthis breakthrough Subhuman imprint (alongside Numbernin6,Muffler, and Smash Gordon), and from there the buzz grew into a deafening roar.Releases on Ultragore, Basshead Music,Tuff Love Dubs and other high profilelabelsfollowed, and BARE tracks found their way onto the playlists of Excision,Funtcase, 12th Planet, Borgore, MRK1 and other high profile dubstep artistsaround the world. Unofficial reworks of "Fine Day" and "Shot MeDown"released online spread like wildfire, amassing tens of thousands ofplays/downloads and counting. BARE's studio output is astounding to even themost prolific producers - his uncanny ability to crank out top quality tracksonan almost weekly basis leaves his fans with plenty to sink their teethinto.
The madness doesn't end there. A monster behind the decks, BARE's high energy,"all killer no filler" DJ performances have earned him a reputationas atough act to follow. He's developed a particularly rabid fan base -anyonewho's experienced a BARE set (and lived to talk about it) will tell you he's aDJ who absolutely loves what he does. BARE is never afraid to engage hiscrowd-he tends to be as active on the mic as he is on the decks, keeping the crowdlocked and constantly coaxing them to go as mental as possibly. In addition tonotable one-off gigs at some of the nation's most notable venues(Dub Nation,Dubtroit, Sub.Mission, Frequency, etc.), his explosive performances have earnedhim a spot on the Subhuman tour alongside heavyweights Dieselboy and SmashGordon - invading a city near you in 2011. Sean has a genuine love for thosethat take an interest in his music. Members of his social networksareconstantly treated to studio teasers, video clips, mixes and free tracks asa thank you for their support. In an unprecedented move, BARE also created anexclusive VIP remix and a run of T-shirts for the city that got theloudeston arecent mini-tour (congratulations Denver)."Mad, mad, MAD love to the fans," BARE says; "You guys make mewhat I am and I do what I do for you! Much more free stuff to come thisyear!"
BARE's dedication to bass music was recently rewarded with the title of"Best New Dubstep Artist of 2010" by Beatport. Knowledge Magazinerecently described BARE as "revolutionizing the sound of dubstep with hiselegant andmelodicstructures, that will surely fool you once his dirtydown-south-like grimey basslines get your body moving with sheerexcitement." Across the pond, the BARE sound recently caught the attentionof Virus SyndicateDJ/producer MRK1 - as a result, three BARE tracks (includingthe dancefloor annihilating "Like a G6" rework) were chosen torepresent the VS crew in the BBC Radio One Dubstep Soundclash (leading the VScrew to declare themselves victorious). A release/remix on MRK1's Contagiousimprint is one of many projects slated for the new year.
The momentum shows no sign of slowing in the months to come. A Subhuman tour(with Dieselboy, BARE, Smash Gordon) kicks off in early February, with datesalready scheduled throughout the country. More releases & remixesarealreadyin the pipeline for Subhuman (including an artist album and a massivecollaborative release with the likes of Numbernin6, Muffler, and Mark Instinctto name a few), Buygore / Ultragore, and Play Me Records. BARE wasrecentlycommissioned for a brutal rework of metalcore band Asking Alexandria's "ASingle Moment of Sincerity", which should see the light of day soon. Acollaboration with Borgore is in the works, and BARE continues to refinehissolo sound daily with constant studio time and an undying dedication to music."Some serious producers and sounds are coming on a constant basis now, andI love every second of it! The future for dubstep looks super bright!"Keep your eyes and ears open - BARE is on the warpath for 2011, melting facesin a city near you
