Yellowcard, producing punk music with a violin sound, formed in 1997 in Jacksonville, FL and signed their first recording contract with Lobster Records that brought them to LA to work on the group’s third album One For the Kids. In 2002, the band signed up with major label Capitol Records and released the album Ocean Avenue. The band released three more albums under Capitol, Where We Stand (2005),Lights and Sounds (2006), and Paper Walls (2007) before announcing an indefinite hiatus the next year. The band reunited a few years later in 2010 under the new label Hopeless Records, releasing When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes and Southern Air coming soon in August.
Within two years of Ocean Avenue’s release, popular singles off the album “Way Away”, “Ocean Avenue”, and “Only One” were well-received in the MTV world and hit the Top 40 on the radio. Singles “Way Away” and “Breathing” were featured on the soundtracks of sports video games including Madden NFL, EA’s Burnout 3: Takedown, and FlatOut2. Yellowcard is currently playing the 2012 Vans Warped Tour this summer, also having previously headlined the tour stage back in 2004.
