A Band's Crooning Moment

Tuesday at 4:30PM on June 12, 2012

Despite the unfortunate name, Death Cab for Cutie has proved immortal.  The band's been together for 15 years, put out 8 full-length albums, produced several successful side projects (The Postal Service, anyone?), topped Billboard charts, and even made it onto a Twilight soundtrack.  They've come a long way from Bellingham, Washington and they're not turning back anytime soon. Thanks to frontman, Ben Gibbard's unique brand of dreamy lyricism, Death Cab produces the sort of music that never goes out of fashion.

They're also known for putting on an incredible live show.  Currently on a North American summer tour, their upcoming performance at Hawaii's newest venue, the Republik, on August 22 promises to be exceptional. Once on stage in Oahu, Gibbard's sing-song voice will deliver lyrics from the band's latest, highly-acclaimed album, Codes and Keys. The release has received rave reviews from critics and die-hard fans alike and proves, definitively, that Death Cab's still got it. Says Entertainment Weekly, the album serves as "a reminder to the rest of the pretty-rock community that loveliness is worthless if there’s no heart behind it, and Death Cab’s beats stronger than most.”

You may tap your foot, you may sing along, you may swoon. One thing's for certain, you won't regret the night.

They are indie music's reigning darlings  for good reason.  See them.
