So it hasn’t slipped our attention that the Eighties has fluctuated between moments of fond and obsessive revival punctuated with intermittent spates of ridicule, face-palming and derision. Chalk it up to being crazy and pretty darn extreme, but one thing the Eighties wasn’t was what you call boring. Shoulder pads, neon color schemes and excesses galore, the Eighties were all about being bold and leaving that unforgettable brand in the stream of time.  The quintessential acid wash denim of the decadent decade was just such the thing.  Brash, unapologetic and distinctively dated, it is nothing short of a badge of honor for a time that championed the values of Icarus over those of Daedalus.

This June 18th, alterEgo and Wired LA join forces at Hollywood hotspot Vanguard LA to bring back some of the Eighties most salient and defining musical tastemakers (who are still quite active in the scene) at ACID WASH 80’s.  Queenly legend DJ Lady Miss Kier of dance-greats Deee-Lite (renowned for aggressive chart-topping smash-hit single “Groove is in the Heart”) is set to rock the Vanguard to its very core with Andy Rourke of The Smiths, DJ Paul Ryder of Happy Mondays, Mike Licata of Digital Assassins, Philter, Derek Dunbar, Posso, Justin Sloe and a host of other talent.  Allow yourself to be taken back to a colorful time of daring experimentation and nervy no holds barred partying. Swipe on some electric blue and bring your adventuring spirit.  This June 18th, it’s time to kick it up old school at the Vanguard for ACID WASH 80’s!
