Eduard Marian Ilie is the name behind the Stereo Love hit maker known as Edward Maya, also a producer, songwriter, performer and DJ. He graduated the music school "George Enescu" (Bucharest) and is currently in his final year at the Conservatory (Bucharest).
He started his career by collaborating with almost every famous producer in Bucharest, but it actually took off when he signed on to produce AKCENT's album "No Tears" which included hits like "Stay with Me", "That's My Name" and "Lover's Cry".
His next project was a collaboration between Elder Mansurov from Azerbaijan and the Russian DJ Vika Jigulina, the two poeple that helped him create the smash hit "Stereo Love". Not only known as the single that promoted Edward Maya all over the world, but also the single Romania should be proud of, because it is the only romanian song that has more than 52 million views on Youtube in less than 8 months. It also revolutionized the club zone when quickly becaming the hymn of all the parties and clubs. It is important to mention that "Stereo Love" also made it to Billboard top five, as a result of the tremendous number of shows Edward Maya had in countries where Romanian music was still unknown: Brasil, Senegal, Dubai, Albania
"This is My Life", the second single quickly became another hit just because it brought something very special and new: a new sound together with a new beat, a new feeling, another love and of course a lot more fans!
At the end of 2010 he released his third single “Desert Rain” which quickly reached number one position on various radio stations from Canada, Greece and Turkey. “Desert rain” is a mixture of traditional instruments and modern sounds which makes the song so special and gets the attention of the audience.
Also in 2010 Edward Maya created his own company “Mayavin Holdings” which includes: “Mayavin Records” – a music label that is looking for new talents , “Mayavin Agency”- a booking agency that represents artists as Ida Corr, Yolanda Be Cool, Steve Edwards, Nicola Fasano, Fragma, Gramophonedzi, Juan Magan, Stereo Palma, Chris Willis and of course Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina, “Edward Maya Store” – an online store where you can find Edward Maya’s songs, albums and branded things as sunglasses, watches and t-shirts, special created for those who enjoys Edward Maya’s music and style.
In 2011 Edward Maya travels all over the world, touring in USA, Brazil, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and more others concerts are expected to be added to please his fans. In March Edward Maya will have his first tour in USA, where his smash hit Stereo Love achived the 16th place on Billboard Hot 100, the highest position for a Romanian song.
In April Edward Maya will be going on a tour in Brazil for a whole month. The tour will begin on 7th April in Sao Paulo and will end on 01th May in Salvador Bahia. More details will find out on his official website.
